WHO IS IT FOR?

UDC-Inditex InTalent is a program aimed at doctors of any age from anywhere in the world who want to develop their innovative career at the University of A Coruña.

HOW MANY PLACES ARE OFFERED IN THE SECOND CALL OF THE INTALENT PROGRAMME?

InTalent’s second call promotes the recruitment of two postdoctoral researchers through competitive concurrence.

WHAT RESEARCH AREAS MUST CANDIDATES BELONG TO?

The aim is to support excellent science projects regardless of their area of knowledge, without any exclusion, although consideration will be given to the adequacy of the project to the objectives of RIS3 in Galicia, and to those areas of particular interest to UDC for their scientific projection, their emergent character or their consideration of strategic within the current planning of the entity.

WHAT IS THE DURATION OF CONTRACTS?

The contracts will have a maximum duration of three years: two initial years with the possibility of a single one-year extension. This extension will be automatic as long as researchers request it between 3 and 6 months prior to the conclusion of their initial contract.

WHAT IS THE BENEFICIARY'S REMUNERATION?

The total amount for each contract is 60,000 euros per annu. This figure includes gross salary, social costs of the recruitment and the contract’s final compensation, which translates to a net income of around €45,000 for the person selected.

WHAT REQUIREMENTS MUST BE MET BY APPLICANTS?

We are looking for doctors with at least 3 years of postdoctoral experience and at least 2 years of international experience in R & D Centers in countries other than the one where they obtained the doctoral degree.

WHAT IS THE APPLICATION DEADLINE?

The application period starts on the 27th of June, 2017 at 08:30 (UCT + 1) and ends on the 20th of September, 2017 at 14:30 (UCT + 1).

IN WHICH LANGUAGES CAN I SUBMIT THE APPLICATION?

The request must be written in English, Spanish or Galician, although it is recommended that the technical report be completed in English.

WHAT ARE THE EVALUATION CRITERIA?

The evaluation criteria are specified in section VIII of the call, and include: the excellence of your scientific trajectory; participation in international activity; capacity of the candidate to lead his/her research line and generate new knowledge; and the project proposal.

I HAVE FEW YEARS OF POST-DOCTORAL EXPERIENCE, CAN I COMPETE WITH SENIOR RESEARCHERS?

Yes. The call specifies that all merits will be assessed taking into account the years elapsed since applicants obtained their doctor’s degree, so that both achievements based on their experience and the projection of their research career and their ability to present future successful proposals to other national and international competitive calls will be evaluated.

RIGHT NOW I’M NOT ATTACHED TO UDC, DO I NEED MY APPLICATION TO BE ENDORSED BY ANY GROUP OR RESEARCHER FROM UDC?

No. No letter of acceptance, guardian, or liaison with a UDC group or researcher is required. Beneficiaries may freely establish the collaborations they deem appropriate with UDC groups or with researchers from other universities. The only requirement is that they develop their project at the UDC.

WHO EVALUATES THE PROJECTS?

The evaluation of candidates will be made by an commission chaired by the Vice Rector of Scientific Policy, Research and Transference, and which will also be integrated by the Deputy Vice Rector of Research and the Deputy Vice Rector of Transference from the Vice Rector’s Office of Scientific Policy, Research and Transference, and three renowned professors appointed by said Vice Rector. The Evaluation Commission will be assisted by the Scientific Coordinator of the InTalent program, which will have voice but no vote.

IF SELECTED, AM I OBLIGED TO APPLY TO ALL NATIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL EXCELLENT SCIENCE CALLS?

No. The commitment included in the call consists in concurring during the duration of the contract to national and international excellent science calls, through and in agreement with UDC.

WHAT TIME DO THE SELECTED RESEARCHERS HAVE TO JOIN UDC?

The selected researchers must join UDC within thirty days of the final publication of the grant. In exceptional and duly accredited cases the selected candidate may request to the Vice Rector of Scientific Policy, Research and Transference an extension of the incorporation deadline of up to 6 months from the day following the publication of the decision.
